When it's hard to keep up with the fast pace of modern life, you might want a different lifestyle. A life in which time seems to slow down and the past is revered. That place exists, and it could be yours to enjoy as a country getaway or as a full-time home. It's called Hacienda Las Luciérnagas, and it's located in Tepoztlán, approximately 1.5 hours from Mexico City.

Tepoztlán has been awarded the prized designation of “Magic Town” and retains much of its original charm. It is surrounded by tall green mountains and huge rocky outcrops. You can't help but slow down and breathe a little deeper here.

Hacienda Las Fireflies is located in the clouds, just a short drive above this small town. The two main buildings are the farm itself and the separate private house. A third building functions as a service house and a room, as a chapel. The long cobblestone path that leads to the house is lined with stone walls and tall trees.

The farm itself is built around a central courtyard, in the tradition of old-time estates. Covered patios surround this patio and provide ample opportunity for outdoor entertaining. Right next to this patio is a pool with a spacious, partially shaded lounge. The property covers 10 acres and is beautifully surrounded by gardens and lush vegetation. As such, there are plenty of places where you can rest, bask in the sun, or take in the incredible views. There is even a pond that irrigates the entire farm.

Inside, the atmosphere is relaxed. Natural elements such as the stone floor and wooden beams add warmth, and numerous niches create a homely touch. The living room is spacious and inviting, and includes a fireplace and French doors leading to the central patio. The adjacent dining room also has easy access to the patio. Skylights placed between the beams provide even more light.

A second dining area could also be used as a chef's kitchen, and it feels especially spacious with its large windows that overlook the surrounding greenery. It is accompanied by a second cozy living area accented by a tall circular window.

You'll notice that the hallway leading to the kitchen is wide and runs along the patio. Combined with so many living areas, this home can comfortably accommodate large groups and large scale entertainment.

The farm houses a wide variety of rooms; five of the six have a bathroom, several are larger master bedrooms, and there is even one that will make you feel like you are nesting in a tree, above all else. The downstairs bedroom is large and ideal for parents on vacation with young children. Hacienda Las Luciérnagas está situada en las nubes, a un corto trayecto en coche por encima de este pequeño pueblo. Los dos edificios principales son la propia hacienda y la casa privada separada. Un tercer edificio funciona como casa de servicio y un cuarto, como capilla. El largo camino de adoquines que lo lleva hacia la casa está bordeado de paredes de piedra y árboles altos.

La hacienda en sí está construida alrededor de un patio central, en la tradición de las haciendas de los viejos tiempos . Los patios cubiertos rodean este patio y brindan una amplia oportunidad para el entretenimiento al aire libre. Justo al lado de este patio hay una piscina con un salón espacioso y parcialmente sombreado. La propiedad cubre 10 acres y está hermosamente rodeada de jardines y de exuberante vegetación. Como tal, hay una gran cantidad de lugares donde puede descansar, disfrutar del sol o disfrutar de las increíbles vistas. Incluso hay un estanque que riega toda la finca.

En el interior, el ambiente es relajado. Los elementos naturales como el piso de piedra y las vigas de madera añaden calidez, y numerosos nichos crean un toque hogareño. La sala de estar es espaciosa y acogedora, e incluye una chimenea y puertas francesas que dan al patio central. El comedor adyacente también tiene fácil acceso al patio. Los tragaluces colocados entre las vigas aportan aún más luz.

Una segunda área de comedor también podría usarse como cocina de chef, y se siente especialmente espaciosa con sus grandes ventanales que dan a la vegetación circundante. Está acompañado por una segunda sala de estar acogedora acentuada por una ventana circular alta.

Notarás que el pasillo que conduce a la cocina es amplio y corre a lo largo del patio. Combinado con tantas áreas de estar, esta casa puede acomodar cómodamente a grupos grandes y entretenimiento a gran escala.

La hacienda alberga una gran variedad de habitaciones; cinco de las seis tienen baño, varios son dormitorios principales más grandes, e incluso hay uno que te hará sentir como si estuvieras anidando en un árbol, por encima de todo. El dormitorio de la planta baja es grande y es ideal para padres de vacaciones con niños pequeños. Hay tres dormitorios más en el segundo piso, cada uno con su propio estilo cómodo, uno más en el cuarto piso y un dormitorio final en la torre de piedra.
