El Paraiso is located in the northern part of Merida. This compound of buildings is a unique property inspired by African and Mayan architectures. Three modular buildings comprise the main house, including 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room and a dining area. There are also 2 bungalows, both of which are composed of a fully furnished bedroom, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. There are air conditioners and ceiling fans throughout.
A totally separate unit built 8 years ago features a large library, a bedroom, a full bathroom, a storage room and a small indoor patio.
A large unique botanical garden surrounds all the buildings, as well as the large filtered swimming pool. This botanical garden is 30+ years in the making with over 300 species of plants ranging from indigenous and exotic palm trees to indigenous and exotic orchids in which attracts over 50 different species of birds. The jewel of this tropical crown is a large collection of indigenous and threatened Mayan fruit trees. These have served as the basis of a tree nursery and the very first autochthonous Arboretum in a public space in the Americas, which is located in Cholul’s main Plaza.
